L'Éternel répondit à Job du milieu de la tempête et dit:
Господь отвечал Иову из бури и сказал:
فاجاب الرب ايوب من العاصفة وقال
Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said,

Qui est celui qui obscurcit mes desseins Par des discours sans intelligence?
кто сей, омрачающий Провидение словами без смысла?
من هذا الذي يظلم القضاء بكلام بلا معرفة.
Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?

Ceins tes reins comme un vaillant homme; Je t'interrogerai, et tu m'instruiras.
Препояшь ныне чресла твои, как муж: Я буду спрашивать тебя, и ты объясняй Мне:
اشدد الآن حقويك كرجل. فاني اسألك فتعلمني.
Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me.

Où étais-tu quand je fondais la terre? Dis-le, si tu as de l'intelligence.
где был ты, когда Я полагал основания земли? Скажи, если знаешь.
اين كنت حين اسست الارض. أخبر ان كان عندك فهم.
Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.

Qui en a fixé les dimensions, le sais-tu? Ou qui a étendu sur elle le cordeau?
Кто положил меру ей, если знаешь? или кто протягивал по ней вервь?
من وضع قياسها. لانك تعلم. او من مدّ عليها مطمارا.
Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it?

Sur quoi ses bases sont-elles appuyées? Ou qui en a posé la pierre angulaire,
На чем утверждены основания ее, или кто положил краеугольный камень ее,
على اي شيء قرّت قواعدها او من وضع حجر زاويتها
Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof;

Alors que les étoiles du matin éclataient en chants d'allégresse, Et que tous les fils de Dieu poussaient des cris de joie?
при общем ликовании утренних звезд, когда все сыны Божии восклицали от радости?
عندما ترنمت كواكب الصبح معا وهتف جميع بني الله
When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

Qui a fermé la mer avec des portes, Quand elle s'élança du sein maternel;
Кто затворил море воротами, когда оно исторглось, вышло как бы изчрева,
ومن حجز البحر بمصاريع حين اندفق فخرج من الرحم.
Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it brake forth, as if it had issued out of the womb?

Quand je fis de la nuée son vêtement, Et de l'obscurité ses langes;
когда Я облака сделал одеждою его и мглу пеленами его,
اذ جعلت السحاب لباسه الضباب قماطه
When I made the cloud the garment thereof, and thick darkness a swaddlingband for it,
-

Quand je lui imposai ma loi, Et que je lui mis des barrières et des portes;
и утвердил ему Мое определение, и поставил запоры и ворота,
وجزمت عليه حدّي واقمت له مغاليق ومصاريع
And brake up for it my decreed place, and set bars and doors,
-

Quand je dis: Tu viendras jusqu'ici, tu n'iras pas au delà; Ici s'arrêtera l'orgueil de tes flots?
и сказал: доселе дойдешь и не перейдешь, и здесь предел надменным волнам твоим?
وقلت الى هنا تاتي ولا تتعدى وهنا تتخم كبرياء لججك
And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further: and here shall thy proud waves be stayed?

Depuis que tu existes, as-tu commandé au matin? As-tu montré sa place à l'aurore,
Давал ли ты когда в жизни своей приказания утру и указывал ли заре место ее,
هل في ايامك امرت الصبح. هل عرّفت الفجر موضعه
Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days; and caused the dayspring to know his place;

Pour qu'elle saisisse les extrémités de la terre, Et que les méchants en soient secoués;
чтобы она охватила края земли и стряхнула с нее нечестивых,
ليمسك باكناف الارض فينفض الاشرار منها.
That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it?

Pour que la terre se transforme comme l'argile qui reçoit une empreinte, Et qu'elle soit parée comme d'un vêtement;
чтобы земля изменилась, как глина под печатью, и стала, как разноцветная одежда,
تتحول كطين الخاتم وتقف كانها لابسة.
It is turned as clay to the seal; and they stand as a garment.

Pour que les méchants soient privés de leur lumière, Et que le bras qui se lève soit brisé?
и чтобы отнялся у нечестивых свет их и дерзкая рука их сокрушилась?
ويمنع عن الاشرار نورهم وتنكسر الذراع المرتفعة
And from the wicked their light is withholden, and the high arm shall be broken.

As-tu pénétré jusqu'aux sources de la mer? T'es-tu promené dans les profondeurs de l'abîme?
Нисходил ли ты во глубину моря и входил ли в исследование бездны?
هل انتهيت الى ينابيع البحر او في مقصورة الغمر تمشّيت.
Hast thou entered into the springs of the sea? or hast thou walked in the search of the depth?

Les portes de la mort t'ont-elles été ouvertes? As-tu vu les portes de l'ombre de la mort?
Отворялись ли для тебя врата смерти, и видел ли ты врата тени смертной?
هل انكشفت لك ابواب الموت او عاينت ابواب ظل الموت.
Have the gates of death been opened unto thee? or hast thou seen the doors of the shadow of death?

As-tu embrassé du regard l'étendue de la terre? Parle, si tu sais toutes ces choses.
Обозрел ли ты широту земли? Объясни, если знаешь все это.
هل ادركت عرض الارض. اخبر ان عرفته كله
Hast thou perceived the breadth of the earth? declare if thou knowest it all.

Où est le chemin qui conduit au séjour de la lumière? Et les ténèbres, où ont-elles leur demeure?
Где путь к жилищу света, и где место тьмы?
اين الطريق الى حيث يسكن النور. والظلمة اين مقامها
Where is the way where light dwelleth? and as for darkness, where is the place thereof,

Peux-tu les saisir à leur limite, Et connaître les sentiers de leur habitation?
Ты, конечно, доходил до границ ее и знаешь стези к дому ее.
حتى تاخذها الى تخومها وتعرف سبل بيتها.
That thou shouldest take it to the bound thereof, and that thou shouldest know the paths to the house thereof?

Tu le sais, car alors tu étais né, Et le nombre de tes jours est grand!
Ты знаешь это, потому что ты был уже тогда рожден, и число дней твоих очень велико.
تعلم لانك حينئذ كنت قد ولدت وعدد ايامك كثير
Knowest thou it, because thou wast then born? or because the number of thy days is great?

Es-tu parvenu jusqu'aux amas de neige? As-tu vu les dépôts de grêle,
Входил ли ты в хранилища снега и видел ли сокровищницы града,
أدخلت الى خزائن الثلج ام ابصرت مخازن البرد
Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow? or hast thou seen the treasures of the hail,

Que je tiens en réserve pour les temps de détresse, Pour les jours de guerre et de bataille?
которые берегу Я на время смутное, на день битвы и войны?
التي ابقيتها لوقت الضر ليوم القتال والحرب.
Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war?

Par quel chemin la lumière se divise-t-elle, Et le vent d'orient se répand-il sur la terre?
По какому пути разливается свет и разносится восточный ветер по земле?
في اي طريق يتوزع النور وتتفرق الشرقية على الارض.
By what way is the light parted, which scattereth the east wind upon the earth?

Qui a ouvert un passage à la pluie, Et tracé la route de l'éclair et du tonnerre,
Кто проводит протоки для излияния воды и путь для громоносной молнии,
من فرّع قنوات للهطل وطريقا للصواعق
Who hath divided a watercourse for the overflowing of waters, or a way for the lightning of thunder;

Pour que la pluie tombe sur une terre sans habitants, Sur un désert où il n'y a point d'hommes;
чтобы шел дождь на землю безлюдную, на пустыню, где нет человека,
ليمطر على ارض حيث لا انسان. على قفر لا احد فيه.
To cause it to rain on the earth, where no man is; on the wilderness, wherein there is no man;

Pour qu'elle abreuve les lieux solitaires et arides, Et qu'elle fasse germer et sortir l'herbe?
чтобы насыщать пустыню и степь и возбуждать травные зародыши к возрастанию?
ليروي البلقع والخلاء وينبت مخرج العشب
To satisfy the desolate and waste ground; and to cause the bud of the tender herb to spring forth?

La pluie a-t-elle un père? Qui fait naître les gouttes de la rosée?
Есть ли у дождя отец? или кто рождает капли росы?
هل للمطر اب ومن ولد مآجل الطل.
Hath the rain a father? or who hath begotten the drops of dew?

Du sein de qui sort la glace, Et qui enfante le frimas du ciel,
Из чьего чрева выходит лед, и иней небесный, – кто рождает его?
من بطن من خرج الجمد. صقيع السماء من ولده.
Out of whose womb came the ice? and the hoary frost of heaven, who hath gendered it?

Pour que les eaux se cachent comme une pierre, Et que la surface de l'abîme soit enchaînée?
Воды, как камень, крепнут, и поверхность бездны замерзает.
كحجر صارت المياه. أختبأت. وتلكد وجه الغمر
The waters are hid as with a stone, and the face of the deep is frozen.

Noues-tu les liens des Pléiades, Ou détaches-tu les cordages de l'Orion?
Можешь ли ты связать узел Хима и разрешить узы Кесиль?
هل تربط انت عقد الثريا او تفك ربط الجبّار.
Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion?

Fais-tu paraître en leur temps les signes du zodiaque, Et conduis-tu la Grande Ourse avec ses petits?
Можешь ли выводить созвездия в свое время и вести Ас с ее детьми?
أتخرج المنازل في اوقاتها وتهدي النعش مع بناته
Canst thou bring forth Mazzaroth in his season? or canst thou guide Arcturus with his sons?

Connais-tu les lois du ciel? Règles-tu son pouvoir sur la terre?
Знаешь ли ты уставы неба, можешь ли установить господство его на земле?
هل عرفت سنن السموات او جعلت تسلطها على الارض.
Knowest thou the ordinances of heaven? canst thou set the dominion thereof in the earth?

Élèves-tu la voix jusqu'aux nuées, Pour appeler à toi des torrents d'eaux?
Можешь ли возвысить голос твой к облакам, чтобы вода в обилии покрыла тебя?
أترفع صوتك الى السحب فيغطيك فيض المياه.
Canst thou lift up thy voice to the clouds, that abundance of waters may cover thee?

Lances-tu les éclairs? Partent-ils? Te disent-ils: Nous voici?
Можешь ли посылать молнии, и пойдут ли они и скажут ли тебе: вот мы?
اترسل البروق فتذهب وتقول لك ها نحن.
Canst thou send lightnings, that they may go, and say unto thee, Here we are?

Qui a mis la sagesse dans le coeur, Ou qui a donné l'intelligence à l'esprit?
Кто вложил мудрость в сердце, или кто дал смысл разуму?
من وضع في الطخاء حكمة او من اظهر في الشّهب فطنة.
Who hath put wisdom in the inward parts? or who hath given understanding to the heart?

Qui peut avec sagesse compter les nuages, Et verser les outres des cieux,
Кто может расчислить облака своею мудростью и удержать сосуды неба,
من يحصي الغيوم بالحكمة ومن يسكب ازقاق السموات
Who can number the clouds in wisdom? or who can stay the bottles of heaven,
-
38
Pour que la poussière se mette à ruisseler, Et que les mottes de terre se collent ensemble?
когда пыль обращается в грязь и глыбы слипаются?
اذ ينسبك التراب سبكا ويتلاصق المدر
When the dust groweth into hardness, and the clods cleave fast together?
-
39
(39:1) Chasses-tu la proie pour la lionne, Et apaises-tu la faim des lionceaux,
Ты ли ловишь добычу львице и насыщаешь молодыхльвов,
اتصطاد للّبوة فريسة ام تشبع نفس الاشبال
Wilt thou hunt the prey for the lion? or fill the appetite of the young lions,
-

(39:2) Quand ils sont couchés dans leur tanière, Quand ils sont en embuscade dans leur repaire?
когда они лежат в берлогах или покоятся под тенью в засаде?
حين تجرمز في عريّسها وتجلس في عيصها للكمون.
When they couch in their dens, and abide in the covert to lie in wait?

(39:3) Qui prépare au corbeau sa pâture, Quand ses petits crient vers Dieu, Quand ils sont errants et affamés?
Кто приготовляет ворону корм его, когда птенцы его кричат к Богу,бродя без пищи?
من يهيئ للغراب صيده اذ تنعب فراخه الى الله وتتردد لعدم القوت
Who provideth for the raven his food? when his young ones cry unto God, they wander for lack of meat.
