The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.
Proverbes de Salomon. Un fils sage fait la joie d'un père, Et un fils insensé le chagrin de sa mère.
امثال سليمان-الابن الحكيم يسرّ اباه والابن الجاهل حزن امه.

Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death.
Les trésors de la méchanceté ne profitent pas, Mais la justice délivre de la mort.
كنوز الشر لا تنفع. اما البر فينجي من الموت.

The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked.
L'Éternel ne laisse pas le juste souffrir de la faim, Mais il repousse l'avidité des méchants.
الرب لا يجيع نفس الصدّيق ولكنه يدفع هوى الاشرار.

He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.
Celui qui agit d'une main lâche s'appauvrit, Mais la main des diligents enrichit.
العامل بيد رخوة يفتقر. اما يد المجتهدين فتغني.

He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.
Celui qui amasse pendant l'été est un fils prudent, Celui qui dort pendant la moisson est un fils qui fait honte.
من يجمع في الصيف فهو ابن عاقل ومن ينام في الحصاد فهو ابن مخز

Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.
Il y a des bénédictions sur la tête du juste, Mais la violence couvre la bouche des méchants.
بركات على راس الصدّيق. اما فم الاشرار فيغشاه ظلم.

The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot.
La mémoire du juste est en bénédiction, Mais le nom des méchants tombe en pourriture.
ذكر الصدّيق للبركة واسم الاشرار ينخر.

The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall.
Celui qui est sage de coeur reçoit les préceptes, Mais celui qui est insensé des lèvres court à sa perte.
حكيم القلب يقبل الوصايا وغبي الشفتين يصرع.

He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.
Celui qui marche dans l'intégrité marche avec assurance, Mais celui qui prend des voies tortueuses sera découvert.
من يسلك بالاستقامة يسلك بالامان ومن يعوج طرقه يعرّف.

He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow: but a prating fool shall fall.
Celui qui cligne des yeux est une cause de chagrin, Et celui qui est insensé des lèvres court à sa perte.
من يغمز بالعين يسبب حزنا والغبي الشفتين يصرع

The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.
La bouche du juste est une source de vie, Mais la violence couvre la bouche des méchants.
فم الصدّيق ينبوع حياة وفم الاشرار يغشاه ظلم.

Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.
La haine excite des querelles, Mais l'amour couvre toutes les fautes.
البغضة تهيج خصومات والمحبة تستر كل الذنوب.

In the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found: but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.
Sur les lèvres de l'homme intelligent se trouve la sagesse, Mais la verge est pour le dos de celui qui est dépourvu de sens.
في شفتي العاقل توجد حكمة. والعصا لظهر الناقص الفهم.

Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.
Les sages tiennent la science en réserve, Mais la bouche de l'insensé est une ruine prochaine.
الحكماء يذخرون معرفة. اما فم الغبي فهلاك قريب.

The rich man's wealth is his strong city: the destruction of the poor is their poverty.
La fortune est pour le riche une ville forte; La ruine des misérables, c'est leur pauvreté.
ثروة الغني مدينته الحصينة هلاك المساكين فقرهم.

The labour of the righteous tendeth to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin.
L'oeuvre du juste est pour la vie, Le gain du méchant est pour le péché.
عمل الصديق للحياة. ربح الشرير للخطية.

He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth.
Celui qui se souvient de la correction prend le chemin de la vie, Mais celui qui oublie la réprimande s'égare.
حافظ التعليم هو في طريق الحياة ورافض التأديب ضال.

He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.
Celui qui dissimule la haine a des lèvres menteuses, Et celui qui répand la calomnie est un insensé.
من يخفي البغضة فشفتاه كاذبتان ومشيع المذمة هو جاهل.

In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.
Celui qui parle beaucoup ne manque pas de pécher, Mais celui qui retient ses lèvres est un homme prudent.
كثرة الكلام لا تخلو من معصية. اما الضابط شفتيه فعاقل.

The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth.
La langue du juste est un argent de choix; Le coeur des méchants est peu de chose.
لسان الصدّيق فضة مختارة. قلب الاشرار كشيء زهيد.

The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom.
Les lèvres du juste dirigent beaucoup d'hommes, Et les insensés meurent par défaut de raison.
شفتا الصدّيق تهديان كثيرين. اما الاغبياء فيموتون من نقص الفهم.

The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.
C'est la bénédiction de l'Éternel qui enrichit, Et il ne la fait suivre d'aucun chagrin.
بركة الرب هي تغني ولا يزيد معها تعبا.

It is as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath wisdom.
Commettre le crime paraît un jeu à l'insensé, Mais la sagesse appartient à l'homme intelligent.
فعل الرذيلة عند الجاهل كالضحك. اما الحكمة فلذي فهم.

The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.
Ce que redoute le méchant, c'est ce qui lui arrive; Et ce que désirent les justes leur est accordé.
خوف الشرير هو يأتيه وشهوة الصدّيقين تمنح.

As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an everlasting foundation.
Comme passe le tourbillon, ainsi disparaît le méchant; Mais le juste a des fondements éternels.
كعبور الزوبعة فلا يكون الشرير. اما الصدّيق فاساس مؤبّد.

As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him.
Ce que le vinaigre est aux dents et la fumée aux yeux, Tel est le paresseux pour celui qui l'envoie.
كالخل للاسنان وكالدخان للعينين كذلك الكسلان للذين ارسلوه.

The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.
La crainte de l'Éternel augmente les jours, Mais les années des méchants sont abrégées.
مخافة الرب تزيد الايام. اما سنو الاشرار فتقصر.

The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.
L'attente des justes n'est que joie, Mais l'espérance des méchants périra.
منتظر الصدّيقين مفرح. اما رجاء الاشرار فيبيد.

The way of the LORD is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.
La voie de l'Éternel est un rempart pour l'intégrité, Mais elle est une ruine pour ceux qui font le mal.
حصن للاستقامة طريق الرب. والهلاك لفاعلي الاثم.

The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.
Le juste ne chancellera jamais, Mais les méchants n'habiteront pas le pays.
الصدّيق لن يزحزح ابدا والاشرار لن يسكنوا الارض.

The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom: but the froward tongue shall be cut out.
La bouche du juste produit la sagesse, Mais la langue perverse sera retranchée.
فم الصدّيق ينبت الحكمة. اما لسان الاكاذيب فيقطع.

The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaketh frowardness.
Les lèvres du juste connaissent la grâce, Et la bouche des méchants la perversité.
شفتا الصدّيق تعرفان المرضي وفم الاشرار اكاذيب
