وحدث في ذلك الزمان ان يهوذا نزل من عند اخوته ومال الى رجل عدلاميّ اسمه حيرة.
And it came to pass at that time, that Judah went down from his brethren, and turned in to a certain Adullamite, whose name was Hirah.
En ce temps-là, Juda s'éloigna de ses frères, et se retira vers un homme d'Adullam, nommé Hira.

ونظر يهوذا هناك ابنة رجل كنعاني اسمه شوع. فاخذها ودخل عليها.
And Judah saw there a daughter of a certain Canaanite, whose name was Shuah; and he took her, and went in unto her.
Là, Juda vit la fille d'un Cananéen, nommé Schua; il la prit pour femme, et alla vers elle.

فحبلت وولدت ابنا ودعا اسمه عيرا.
And she conceived, and bare a son; and he called his name Er.
Elle devint enceinte, et enfanta un fils, qu'elle appela Er.

ثم حبلت ايضا وولدت ابنا ودعت اسمه أونان.
And she conceived again, and bare a son; and she called his name Onan.
Elle devint encore enceinte, et enfanta un fils, qu'elle appela Onan.

ثم عادت فولدت ايضا ابنا ودعت اسمه شيلة. وكان في كزيب حين ولدته
And she yet again conceived, and bare a son; and called his name Shelah: and he was at Chezib, when she bare him.
Elle enfanta de nouveau un fils, qu'elle appela Schéla; Juda était à Czib quand elle l'enfanta.

واخذ يهوذا زوجة لعير بكره اسمها ثامار.
And Judah took a wife for Er his firstborn, whose name was Tamar.
Juda prit pour Er, son premier-né, une femme nommée Tamar.

وكان عير بكر يهوذا شريرا في عيني الرب. فأماته الرب.
And Er, Judah's firstborn, was wicked in the sight of the LORD; and the LORD slew him.
Er, premier-né de Juda, était méchant aux yeux de l'Éternel; et l'Éternel le fit mourir.

فقال يهوذا لأونان ادخل على امرأة اخيك وتزوج بها واقم نسلا لاخيك.
And Judah said unto Onan, Go in unto thy brother's wife, and marry her, and raise up seed to thy brother.
Alors Juda dit à Onan: Va vers la femme de ton frère, prends-la, comme beau-frère, et suscite une postérité à ton frère.

فعلم أونان ان النسل لا يكون له. فكان اذ دخل على امرأة اخيه انه افسد على الارض لكيلا يعطي نسلا لاخيه.
And Onan knew that the seed should not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in unto his brother's wife, that he spilled it on the ground, lest that he should give seed to his brother.
Onan, sachant que cette postérité ne serait pas à lui, se souillait à terre lorsqu'il allait vers la femme de son frère, afin de ne pas donner de postérité à son frère.

فقبح في عيني الرب ما فعله. فاماته ايضا.
And the thing which he did displeased the LORD: wherefore he slew him also.
Ce qu'il faisait déplut à l'Éternel, qui le fit aussi mourir.

فقال يهوذا لثامار كنته اقعدي ارملة في بيت ابيك حتى يكبر شيلة ابني. لانه قال لعله يموت هو ايضا كاخويه. فمضت ثامار وقعدت في بيت ابيها
Then said Judah to Tamar his daughter in law, Remain a widow at thy father's house, till Shelah my son be grown: for he said, Lest peradventure he die also, as his brethren did. And Tamar went and dwelt in her father's house.
Alors Juda dit à Tamar, sa belle-fille: Demeure veuve dans la maison de ton père, jusqu'à ce que Schéla, mon fils, soit grand. Il parlait ainsi dans la crainte que Schéla ne mourût comme ses frères. Tamar s'en alla, et elle habita dans la maison de son père.

ولما طال الزمان ماتت ابنة شوع امرأة يهوذا. ثم تعزّى يهوذا فصعد الى جزاز غنمه الى تمنة هو وحيرة صاحبه العدلامي.
And in process of time the daughter of Shuah Judah's wife died; and Judah was comforted, and went up unto his sheepshearers to Timnath, he and his friend Hirah the Adullamite.
Les jours s'écoulèrent, et la fille de Schua, femme de Juda, mourut. Lorsque Juda fut consolé, il monta à Thimna, vers ceux qui tondaient ses brebis, lui et son ami Hira, l'Adullamite.

فاخبرت ثامار وقيل لها هوذا حموك صاعد الى تمنة ليجزّ غنمه.
And it was told Tamar, saying, Behold thy father in law goeth up to Timnath to shear his sheep.
On en informa Tamar, et on lui dit: Voici ton beau-père qui monte à Thimna, pour tondre ses brebis.

فخلعت عنها ثياب ترملها وتغطت ببرقع وتلفّفت وجلست في مدخل عينايم التي على طريق تمنة. لانها رأت ان شيلة قد كبر وهي لم تعط له زوجة.
And she put her widow's garments off from her, and covered her with a veil, and wrapped herself, and sat in an open place, which is by the way to Timnath; for she saw that Shelah was grown, and she was not given unto him to wife.
Alors elle ôta ses habits de veuve, elle se couvrit d'un voile et s'enveloppa, et elle s'assit à l'entrée d'Énaïm, sur le chemin de Thimna; car elle voyait que Schéla était devenu grand, et qu'elle ne lui était point donnée pour femme.

فنظرها يهوذا وحسبها زانية. لانها كانت قد غطت وجهها.
When Judah saw her, he thought her to be an harlot; because she had covered her face.
Juda la vit, et la prit pour une prostituée, parce qu'elle avait couvert son visage.

فمال اليها على الطريق وقال هاتي ادخل عليك. لانه لم يعلم انها كنته. فقالت ماذا تعطيني لكي تدخل عليّ.
And he turned unto her by the way, and said, Go to, I pray thee, let me come in unto thee; (for he knew not that she was his daughter in law.) And she said, What wilt thou give me, that thou mayest come in unto me?
Il l'aborda sur le chemin, et dit: Laisse-moi aller vers toi. Car il ne connut pas que c'était sa belle-fille. Elle dit: Que me donneras-tu pour venir vers moi?

فقال اني ارسل جدي معزى من الغنم. فقالت هل تعطيني رهنا حتى ترسله.
And he said, I will send thee a kid from the flock. And she said, Wilt thou give me a pledge, till thou send it?
Il répondit: Je t'enverrai un chevreau de mon troupeau. Elle dit: Me donneras-tu un gage, jusqu'à ce que tu l'envoies?

فقال ما الرهن الذي اعطيك. فقالت خاتمك وعصابتك وعصاك التي في يدك. فاعطاها ودخل عليها. فحبلت منه.
And he said, What pledge shall I give thee? And she said, Thy signet, and thy bracelets, and thy staff that is in thine hand. And he gave it her, and came in unto her, and she conceived by him.
Il répondit: Quel gage te donnerai-je? Elle dit: Ton cachet, ton cordon, et le bâton que tu as à la main. Il les lui donna. Puis il alla vers elle; et elle devint enceinte de lui.

ثم قامت ومضت وخلعت عنها برقعها ولبست ثياب ترملها
And she arose, and went away, and laid by her veil from her, and put on the garments of her widowhood.
Elle se leva, et s'en alla; elle ôta son voile, et remit ses habits de veuve.

فارسل يهوذا جدي المعزى بيد صاحبه العدلامي ليأخذ الرهن من يد المرأة. فلم يجدها.
And Judah sent the kid by the hand of his friend the Adullamite, to receive his pledge from the woman's hand: but he found her not.
Juda envoya le chevreau par son ami l'Adullamite, pour retirer le gage des mains de la femme. Mais il ne la trouva point.

فسأل اهل مكانها قائلا اين الزانية التي كانت في عينايم على الطريق. فقالوا لم تكن ههنا زانية.
Then he asked the men of that place, saying, Where is the harlot, that was openly by the way side? And they said, There was no harlot in this place.
Il interrogea les gens du lieu, en disant: Où est cette prostituée qui se tenait à Énaïm, sur le chemin? Ils répondirent: Il n'y a point eu ici de prostituée.

فرجع الى يهوذا وقال لم اجدها. واهل المكان ايضا قالوا لم تكن ههنا زانية.
And he returned to Judah, and said, I cannot find her; and also the men of the place said, that there was no harlot in this place.
Il retourna auprès de Juda, et dit: Je ne l'ai pas trouvée, et même les gens du lieu ont dit: Il n'y a point eu ici de prostituée.

فقال يهوذا لتاخذ لنفسها لئلا نصير اهانة. اني قد ارسلت هذا الجدي وانت لم تجدها
And Judah said, Let her take it to her, lest we be shamed: behold, I sent this kid, and thou hast not found her.
Juda dit: Qu'elle garde ce qu'elle a! Ne nous exposons pas au mépris. Voici, j'ai envoyé ce chevreau, et tu ne l'as pas trouvée.

ولما كان نحو ثلاثة اشهر أخبر يهوذا وقيل له قد زنت ثامار كنتك. وها هي حبلى ايضا من الزنى. فقال يهوذا اخرجوها فتحرق.
And it came to pass about three months after, that it was told Judah, saying, Tamar thy daughter in law hath played the harlot; and also, behold, she is with child by whoredom. And Judah said, Bring her forth, and let her be burnt.
Environ trois mois après, on vint dire à Juda: Tamar, ta belle-fille, s'est prostituée, et même la voilà enceinte à la suite de sa prostitution. Et Juda dit: Faites-la sortir, et qu'elle soit brûlée.

اما هي فلما اخرجت ارسلت الى حميها قائلة من الرجل الذي هذه له انا حبلى. وقالت حقّق لمن الخاتم والعصابة والعصا هذه.
When she was brought forth, she sent to her father in law, saying, By the man, whose these are, am I with child: and she said, Discern, I pray thee, whose are these, the signet, and bracelets, and staff.
Comme on l'amenait dehors, elle fit dire à son beau-père: C'est de l'homme à qui ces choses appartiennent que je suis enceinte; reconnais, je te prie, à qui sont ce cachet, ces cordons et ce bâton.

فتحققها يهوذا وقال هي ابرّ مني لاني لم أعطها لشيلة ابني. فلم يعد يعرفها ايضا
And Judah acknowledged them, and said, She hath been more righteous than I; because that I gave her not to Shelah my son. And he knew her again no more.
Juda les reconnut, et dit: Elle est moins coupable que moi, puisque je ne l'ai pas donnée à Schéla, mon fils. Et il ne la connut plus.

وفي وقت ولادتها اذا في بطنها توأمان.
And it came to pass in the time of her travail, that, behold, twins were in her womb.
Quand elle fut au moment d'accoucher, voici, il y avait deux jumeaux dans son ventre.

وكان في ولادتها ان احدهما اخرج يدا فاخذت القابلة وربطت على يده قرمزا قائلة هذا خرج اولا.
And it came to pass, when she travailed, that the one put out his hand: and the midwife took and bound upon his hand a scarlet thread, saying, This came out first.
Et pendant l'accouchement il y en eut un qui présenta la main; la sage-femme la prit, et y attacha un fil cramoisi, en disant: Celui-ci sort le premier.

ولكن حين ردّ يده اذ اخوه قد خرج. فقالت لماذا اقتحمت. عليك اقتحام. فدعي اسمه فارص.
And it came to pass, as he drew back his hand, that, behold, his brother came out: and she said, How hast thou broken forth? this breach be upon thee: therefore his name was called Pharez.
Mais il retira la main, et son frère sortit. Alors la sage-femme dit: Quelle brèche tu as faite! Et elle lui donna le nom de Pérets.

وبعد ذلك خرج اخوه الذي على يده القرمز. فدعي اسمه زارح
And afterward came out his brother, that had the scarlet thread upon his hand: and his name was called Zarah.
Ensuite sortit son frère, qui avait à la main le fil cramoisi; et on lui donna le nom de Zérach.
