لقمة يابسة ومعها سلامة خير من بيت ملآن ذبائح مع خصام.
Better is a dry morsel, and quietness therewith, than an house full of sacrifices with strife.
Лучше кусок сухого хлеба, и с ним мир, нежели дом, полный заколотого скота, с раздором.

العبد الفطن يتسلط على الابن المخزي ويقاسم الاخوة الميراث.
A wise servant shall have rule over a son that causeth shame, and shall have part of the inheritance among the brethren.
Разумный раб господствует над беспутным сыном и между братьями разделит наследство.

البوطة للفضة والكور للذهب وممتحن القلوب الرب.
The fining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold: but the LORD trieth the hearts.
Плавильня – для серебра, и горнило – для золота, а сердца испытывает Господь.

الفاعل الشر يصغى الى شفة الاثم والكاذب يأذن للسان فساد.
A wicked doer giveth heed to false lips; and a liar giveth ear to a naughty tongue.
Злодей внимает устам беззаконным, лжец слушается языка пагубного.

المستهزئ بالفقير يعيّر خالقه. الفرحان ببلية لا يتبرأ.
Whoso mocketh the poor reproacheth his Maker: and he that is glad at calamities shall not be unpunished.
Кто ругается над нищим, тот хулит Творца его; кто радуется несчастью, тот не останется ненаказанным.

تاج الشيوخ بنو البنين وفخر البنين آباؤهم.
Children's children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers.
Венец стариков – сыновья сыновей, и слава детей – родители их.

لا تليق بالاحمق شفة السودد. كم بالاحرى شفة الكذب بالشريف.
Excellent speech becometh not a fool: much less do lying lips a prince.
Неприлична глупому важная речь, тем паче знатному – уста лживые.

الهدية حجر كريم في عيني قابلها. حيثما تتوجه تفلح.
A gift is as a precious stone in the eyes of him that hath it: whithersoever it turneth, it prospereth.
Подарок – драгоценный камень в глазах владеющего им: куда ни обратится он, успеет.

من يستر معصية يطلب المحبة ومن يكرر أمرا يفرق بين الاصدقاء
He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends.
Прикрывающий проступок ищет любви; а кто снова напоминает о нем, тот удаляет друга.

الانتهار يؤثر في الحكيم اكثر من مئة جلدة في الجاهل.
A reproof entereth more into a wise man than an hundred stripes into a fool.
На разумного сильнее действует выговор, нежели на глупого сто ударов.

الشرير انما يطلب التمرد فيطلق عليه رسول قاس.
An evil man seeketh only rebellion: therefore a cruel messenger shall be sent against him.
Возмутитель ищет только зла; поэтому жестокий ангел будет посланпротив него.

ليصادف الانسان دبة ثكول ولا جاهل في حماقته.
Let a bear robbed of her whelps meet a man, rather than a fool in his folly.
Лучше встретить человеку медведицу, лишенную детей, нежели глупца с его глупостью.

من يجازي عن خير بشر لن يبرح الشر من بيته.
Whoso rewardeth evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house.
Кто за добро воздает злом, от дома того не отойдет зло.

ابتداء الخصام اطلاق الماء. فقبل ان تدفق المخاصمة اتركها.
The beginning of strife is as when one letteth out water: therefore leave off contention, before it be meddled with.
Начало ссоры – как прорыв воды; оставь ссору прежде, нежели разгорелась она.

مبرّئ المذنب ومذنّب البريء كلاهما مكرهة الرب.
He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the LORD.
Оправдывающий нечестивого и обвиняющий праведного – оба мерзость пред Господом.

لماذا في يد الجاهل ثمن. ألاقتناء الحكمة وليس له فهم.
Wherefore is there a price in the hand of a fool to get wisdom, seeing he hath no heart to it?
К чему сокровище в руках глупца? Для приобретения мудрости у него нет разума.

الصدّيق يحب في كل وقت. اما الاخ فللشدة يولد.
A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.
Друг любит во всякое время и, как брат, явится во время несчастья.

الانسان الناقص الفهم يصفق كفا ويضمن صاحبه ضمانا.
A man void of understanding striketh hands, and becometh surety in the presence of his friend.
Человек малоумный дает руку и ручается заближнего своего.

محب المعصية محب الخصام. المعلي بابه يطلب الكسر.
He loveth transgression that loveth strife: and he that exalteth his gate seeketh destruction.
Кто любит ссоры, любит грех, и кто высоко поднимает ворота свои, тот ищет падения.

الملتوي القلب لا يجد خيرا والمتقلب اللسان يقع في السوء.
He that hath a froward heart findeth no good: and he that hath a perverse tongue falleth into mischief.
Коварное сердце не найдет добра, и лукавый язык попадет в беду.

من يلد جاهلا فلحزنه. ولا يفرح ابو الاحمق.
He that begetteth a fool doeth it to his sorrow: and the father of a fool hath no joy.
Родил кто глупого, – себе на горе, и отец глупого не порадуется.

القلب الفرحان يطيّب الجسم والروح المنسحقة تجفف العظم.
A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.
Веселое сердце благотворно, как врачевство, а унылый дух сушит кости.

الشرير يأخذ الرشوة من الحضن ليعوّج طرق القضاء.
A wicked man taketh a gift out of the bosom to pervert the ways of judgment.
Нечестивый берет подарок из пазухи, чтобы извратить пути правосудия.

الحكمة عند الفهيم وعينا الجاهل في اقصى الارض.
Wisdom is before him that hath understanding; but the eyes of a fool are in the ends of the earth.
Мудрость – пред лицем у разумного, а глаза глупца – на конце земли.

الابن الجاهل غم لابيه ومرارة للتي ولدته.
A foolish son is a grief to his father, and bitterness to her that bare him.
Глупый сын – досада отцу своему и огорчение для матери своей.

ايضا تغريم البريء ليس بحسن وكذلك ضرب الشرفاء لاجل الاستقامة.
Also to punish the just is not good, nor to strike princes for equity.
Нехорошо и обвинять правого, и бить вельмож за правду.

ذو المعرفة يبقي كلامه وذو الفهم وقور الروح.
He that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit.
Разумный воздержан в словах своих, и благоразумный хладнокровен.

بل الاحمق اذا سكت يحسب حكيما ومن ضم شفتيه فهيما
Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.
И глупец, когда молчит, может показаться мудрым, и затворяющий уста свои – благоразумным.
