Mon fils, retiens mes paroles, Et garde avec toi mes préceptes.
My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.
يا ابني احفظ كلامي واذخر وصاياي عندك.

Observe mes préceptes, et tu vivras; Garde mes enseignements comme la prunelle de tes yeux.
Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.
احفظ وصاياي فتحيا وشريعتي كحدقة عينك.

Lie-les sur tes doigts, Écris-les sur la table de ton coeur.
Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.
اربطها على اصابعك اكتبها على لوح قلبك.

Dis à la sagesse: Tu es ma soeur! Et appelle l'intelligence ton amie,
Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister; and call understanding thy kinswoman:
قل للحكمة انت اختي وادع الفهم ذا قرابة.

Pour qu'elles te préservent de la femme étrangère, De l'étrangère qui emploie des paroles doucereuses.
That they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger which flattereth with her words.
لتحفظك من المرأة الاجنبية من الغريبة الملقة بكلامها

J'étais à la fenêtre de ma maison, Et je regardais à travers mon treillis.
For at the window of my house I looked through my casement,
لاني من كوة بيتي من وراء شباكي تطلعت

J'aperçus parmi les stupides, Je remarquai parmi les jeunes gens un garçon dépourvu de sens.
And beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding,
فرايت بين الجهال لاحظت بين البنين غلاما عديم الفهم

Il passait dans la rue, près de l'angle où se tenait une de ces étrangères, Et il se dirigeait lentement du côté de sa demeure:
Passing through the street near her corner; and he went the way to her house,
عابرا في الشارع عند زاويتها وصاعدا في طريق بيتها

C'était au crépuscule, pendant la soirée, Au milieu de la nuit et de l'obscurité.
In the twilight, in the evening, in the black and dark night:
في العشاء في مساء اليوم في حدقة الليل والظلام.

Et voici, il fut abordé par une femme Ayant la mise d'une prostituée et la ruse dans le coeur.
And, behold, there met him a woman with the attire of an harlot, and subtle of heart.
واذ بامرأة استقبلته في زي زانية وخبيثة القلب.

Elle était bruyante et rétive; Ses pieds ne restaient point dans sa maison;
(She is loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house:
صخّابة هي وجامحة. في بيتها لا تستقر قدماها.

Tantôt dans la rue, tantôt sur les places, Et près de tous les angles, elle était aux aguets.
Now is she without, now in the streets, and lieth in wait at every corner.)
تارة في الخارج واخرى في الشوارع. وعند كل زاوية تكمن.

Elle le saisit et l'embrassa, Et d'un air effronté lui dit:
So she caught him, and kissed him, and with an impudent face said unto him,
فامسكته وقبّلته. اوقحت وجهها وقالت له

Je devais un sacrifice d'actions de grâces, Aujourd'hui j'ai accompli mes voeux.
I have peace offerings with me; this day have I payed my vows.
عليّ ذبائح السلامة. اليوم اوفيت نذوري.

C'est pourquoi je suis sortie au-devant de toi Pour te chercher, et je t'ai trouvé.
Therefore came I forth to meet thee, diligently to seek thy face, and I have found thee.
فلذلك خرجت للقائك لاطلب وجهك حتى اجدك.

J'ai orné mon lit de couvertures, De tapis de fil d'Égypte;
I have decked my bed with coverings of tapestry, with carved works, with fine linen of Egypt.
بالديباج فرشت سريري بموشّى كتان من مصر.

J'ai parfumé ma couche De myrrhe, d'aloès et de cinnamome.
I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.
عطرت فراشي بمرّ وعود وقرفة.

Viens, enivrons-nous d'amour jusqu'au matin, Livrons-nous joyeusement à la volupté.
Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning: let us solace ourselves with loves.
هلم نرتو ودّا الى الصباح. نتلذذ بالحب.

Car mon mari n'est pas à la maison, Il est parti pour un voyage lointain;
For the goodman is not at home, he is gone a long journey:
لان الرجل ليس في البيت. ذهب في طريق بعيدة.

Il a pris avec lui le sac de l'argent, Il ne reviendra à la maison qu'à la nouvelle lune.
He hath taken a bag of money with him, and will come home at the day appointed.
اخذ صرّة الفضة بيده. يوم الهلال ياتي الى بيته.

Elle le séduisit à force de paroles, Elle l'entraîna par ses lèvres doucereuses.
With her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she forced him.
اغوته بكثرة فنونها بملث شفتيها طوحته.

Il se mit tout à coup à la suivre, Comme le boeuf qui va à la boucherie, Comme un fou qu'on lie pour le châtier,
He goeth after her straightway, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks;
ذهب وراءها لوقته كثور يذهب الى الذبح او كالغبي الى قيد القصاص

Jusqu'à ce qu'une flèche lui perce le foie, Comme l'oiseau qui se précipite dans le filet, Sans savoir que c'est au prix de sa vie.
Till a dart strike through his liver; as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it is for his life.
حتى يشق سهم كبده. كطير يسرع الى الفخ ولا يدري انه لنفسه

Et maintenant, mes fils, écoutez-moi, Et soyez attentifs aux paroles de ma bouche.
Hearken unto me now therefore, O ye children, and attend to the words of my mouth.
والآن ايها الابناء اسمعوا لي واصغوا لكلمات فمي.

Que ton coeur ne se détourne pas vers les voies d'une telle femme, Ne t'égare pas dans ses sentiers.
Let not thine heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths.
لا يمل قلبك الى طرقها ولا تشرد في مسالكها.

Car elle a fait tomber beaucoup de victimes, Et ils sont nombreux, tous ceux qu'elle a tués.
For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong men have been slain by her.
لانها طرحت كثيرين جرحى وكل قتلاها اقوياء.

Sa maison, c'est le chemin du séjour des morts; Il descend vers les demeures de la mort.
Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death.
طرق الهاوية بيتها هابطة الى خدور الموت
