وسمع شفطيا بن متان وجدليا بن فشحور ويوخل بن شلميا وفشحور بن ملكيا الكلام الذي كان ارميا يكلم به الشعب قائلا

Ainsi parle l'Éternel: Celui qui restera dans cette ville mourra par l'épée, par la famine ou par la peste; mais celui qui sortira pour se rendre aux Chaldéens, aura la vie sauve, sa vie sera son butin, et il vivra.

هكذا قال الرب. الذي يقيم في هذه المدينة يموت بالسيف والجوع والوبإ. واما الذي يخرج الى الكلدانيين فانه يحيا وتكون له نفسه غنيمة فيحيا.

Ainsi parle l'Éternel: Cette ville sera livrée à l'armée du roi de Babylone, qui la prendra.

فقال الرؤساء للملك ليقتل هذا الرجل لانه بذلك يضعف ايادي رجال الحرب الباقين في هذه المدينة وايادي كل الشعب اذ يكلمهم بمثل هذا الكلام. لان هذا الرجل لا يطلب السلام لهذا الشعب بل الشر.
